Characters Names

Many characters on Fringe seem to get their names from inventors. Thomas Newton (Isaac Newton), William Bell (Alexander Graham Bell) and Astrid Farnsworth (Filo Farnsworth, commonly credited with the invention of the television). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by JigShaun (talkcontribs) .

- "Seems to get their..." - yeah - that is converstaional gossip about a "maybe". It belongs here on the talk page. The character page is for KNOWN facts about the character. Facts = major/minor/trivial known facts. Now if the producers/writers tell us that is a fact - then we can add it back. Bit maybe and what-ifs belong here. -- –DocH my edits 00:18, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Thoughts On Bell

The only thing we know about alternate universe Bell is what Bell told us he knew - died as a young man. What if? Alt-Bell lives. Our Bell was lied to by Walternate. Walternate knows alt-Bell lived! He may in fact be good friends (allies) with alt-Bell. Good twist for next finale, no? –DocH my edits 02:36, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

- Perhaps? But I don't really think that Bell is lying especially that he knows that he would sacrifice himself at the end. My take on this is that he found out in a later stage that Alt-Bell was dead, brought over Olivia to warn of the first wave, and he fell off the grid. I have a feeling that Walternate played on Bell, he uses him to create things, fished out information from Nina-Bell communication and made him believe that he didn't know that he was from the other side. When Bell thought he was fooling Walternate, it is actually the other way around. -- Xerophytes Talk | Contribs 02:57, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
- It seems that Walternate is smarter (savvy) than Bell, and that Bell is much sharper than Walter. If Walternate supsected Bell ever since Peter was abducted, he may have been playing Bell this whole (subservient tech god). What if Walternate and alt-Bell were as close as Walter & Bell. Alt-Bell could still be alive and operating clandestinely. reg-Bell is a pansy, like reg-Walter. That is how I would write it if I could get Nimoy to come back and act some more. –DocH my edits 00:24, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- But we know that reg-Walter and reg-Bell had major differences in personality, where reg-Bell was the more aggressive and clever of the two (seen in 1985, seen again in this episode with the bickering) - I do not think that reg-Bell is a pansy. I question the "alt-Bell" died as a young man story too, though. In fact, I also could subscribe to the Walternate-and-reg-Bell partnership. What proof do we have the reg-Bell died when he sent our 3 heros back to our side? He claims it was going to kill him, but what if he survived? We do not see the alternate opera house after they travel back.--Aswvwl21 21:08, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- Bell is not at the rendez-vous point but Fringe Division is. Who told them? Bell shows up after and gets Walter to the lab where the piece of equipment they need happens to be. There he is confronted by Walter about the shapeshifters and admits being behind their creation (to remain valuable to Walternate), something he never said before. After the equipment is taken they get into a gun/grenade fight and Walternate calls the Fringe Division people (alt-Broyles and alt-Olivia) apparently to give them instruction about a last minute new plan (i.e. infiltrate the other universe). Did Walternate know how they were leaving this universe and that Olivia could be substituted? Frankly, I don't trust Bell. Is he behind this? Another way to remain valuable? Is he playing both sides? Or perhaps Bell and alt-Bell are now the same entity,a kind of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hide. May be that is how Bell "travelled" to the other universe: by taking over alt-Bell mind... or the opposite. --LabgoTalk|Contribs 00:24, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
- I think the fact that both Bell and Walter share initials will have something to do with this. --Aswvwl21 04:04, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
