Season 1 of FRINGE had an initial order for 13 episodes. On October 1, 2008, it was announced that the producers had received an order for a full 22 episode season. In March 2009, it was announced that the season was shortened to 20 episodes. This was in light of the fact that tax credits and financial incentives for filming in New York were at risk, and at the suggestion that filming may resume in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada for season two. After several lengthy breaks in new episode airings, the original airing of the season finale was on May 12, 2009.
In May 2009, it was announced that FRINGE was renewed for a complete second season.
In July 2009, the same team that won a VES Award in Feb 2009 for Pilot, was nominated for a US Emmy award for Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a drama series.
In August 2009, the Television Critics Association held its 25th Annual Awards. FRINGE was one of five nominated as Outstanding New Program Of The Year. Fringe was also nominated for Outstanding Creative Achievement in TV Sound Production at the 25th Annual Technical Excellence & Creativity (TEC) Awards. At the end of the month, the cast and crew gathered in Vancouver for a party to release the DVD box set.
In April 2010, ITunes released a 24 song Season 1 Soundtrack
