Olivia is the first episode of the third season of FRINGE. It first aired on September 23, 2010. Olivia fights to free herself from captivity and memory manipulation while in custody of Secretary Walter Bishop. She makes her way in the alternate universe with the help of a tolerant taxi driver. Uncertain of what she remembers about her past, she finds her way to Marilyn Dunham's home, only to be returned to Fringe Division for exploitation. Peter Bishop finishes his testimony about his experiences in the alternate universe and joins Walter and his new girfriend, Bolivia, for dinner.
In a therapy session, Doctor Anderson attempts to convince Olivia that she is there to help her get over the idea of another universe, which is a result of her head injury during her last mission. Dr. Anderson shows Olivia various pictures (Bolivia and her mother, Lincoln Lee, Charlie Francis and Bolivia). Olivia makes her point clear that her mother died when she was 14; that Charlie Francis is dead and it was the other Olivia Dunham who won an Olympic medal for marksmanship. The doctor asks about Peter, the name Olivia mumbled while under anesthesia. Olivia explains that he is a civilian consultant. Her team crossed over to bring him back home. When asked their whereabouts, Olivia assumes that they went home without her.Secretary Bishop watches the video of the therapy session and tells Brandon that the treatments are not working and thus, require another dose. When Brandon explains that it will endanger her life, Secretary Bishop explains that the key to win the war against the other universe is to learn Olivia's ability to cross over.
A soldier escorts Olivia from her cell. When they reach the elevator, the soldier punches the entry code without any clue that Olivia is remembering the code. Olivia is strapped down and injected with B-lymphocytes. When Olivia is about to be injected with a white substance, she fakes a bad reaction. Brandon orders the lab assistant to take the strap off Olivia. Olivia grabs the syringe and stabs Brandon in the neck. On the way out of the lab, she brings down a soldier with a karate chop. She reaches the elevator while getting chased down by two armed soldiers. After pressing the correct code, Olivia is able to escape the facility. She runs through the woods, stops at a cliff and realizes that she is on Liberty Island. As a final attempt to escape, Olivia jumps into the water.
In Manhatan, a taxi cab driver is pre-occupied watching the news on his laptop when Olivia gets into the car. The driver, Henry, asks for her Show Me Card, she shows him her gun instead and tells him to drive.
In Liberty Island, Colonel Broyles reports to Secretary Bishop. The shore patrol has informed him that it is not possible for Olivia to across the currents. He thinks otherwise. Secretary Bishop orders him to find her.Inside the taxi, Henry asks why Olivia is wearing a hospital gown. Olivia explains that a government division experimented on her, trying to convince her that she is somebody else. Olivia sees a picture of Henry's wife and daughter
At the Department of Defense Hospital Agent Charlie shares some jokes with Lincoln. Agent Charlie updates Lincoln on Olivia's psychological state and her alternate's escape with Peter Bishop to the other universe. Colonel Broyles interrupts the two and announces that Olivia has escaped from the facility on Liberty Island. Back in the cab, Henry notices the tattoo at the back of Olivia's neck. Olivia is surprised and thinks that the other girl must have the tattoo. Henry is unconvinced and thinks his passenger is crazy.
Colonel Broyles reminds his team that having a delusional Fringe Division agent on the loose is dangerous. They also do not have any idea where she is. Lincoln Lee decides to use the remaining six hours he's allowed outside the hyberbaric chamber to find Olivia.
Henry and Olivia arrive at the Opera House to find it surrounded by protesters. Olivia tells Henry to wait for her for fifteen minutes. When he asks what prevents him from leaving right now, she recites his full name, address, I.D. number and medical information. Olivia approaches the Opera House and is stopped by a police officer who recognizes her as one of the Fringe team. Olivia insists on entering, but a smoke cloud appears, billows out of the building and quarantine amber seals the place.Agent Farnsworth is running a scenario. Agent Farnsworth makes a prediction of Olivia's next move. Broyles assures the team that the borders are informed about Olivia. An agent approaches Colonel Broyles and reports that Olivia was spotted at the Orpheum Theater.
Henry takes a call from his wife but is reminded by Olivia not to do anything foolish. After the call, Henry tells Olivia that his wife is named Jasmine. Olivia, in turn, shares that the reason why she is in this universe is because of Peter. Olivia asks Henry to drive her to 655 18th Street to meet with a lady at Massive Dynamic. Henry is unfamiliar with the place, and suggests to stop at a gas station to refuel.
Upon arrival at Shexxon gas station, Olivia takes the car key. Henry understands the blackmail. Olivia enters the restroom, looks at the tattoo at the back of her neck and starts sobbing in the stall.
Outside of the restroom, she is greeted by Lincoln.
Lincoln Lee tries to calm Olivia down and convince her that the Fringe Division is trying to fix her. Olivia points a gun on him and orders him to put his gun on the ground and kick it to her. Olivia insists she does not know Lincoln and she is not who he thinks she is. Lincoln tells her that she cannot run forever. Olivia directs him to the restroom and blocks the door, effectively locking Lincoln in. A car arrives and two agents point their guns at her. Olivia takes them out with one bullet each. She orders Henry to get into the car and drive. Agent Charlie shows up and points a gun to the taxi, which is going straight at him. Olivia shoots the valve off a nearby propane tank and the explosion knocks Charlie down.
The taxi goes into an alley way. Henry comments on her shooting skill but Olivia claims that she is not. Henry removes the tracker on the taxi and tosses it into the street.
Colonel Broyles tells Secretary Bishop that the tracker was removed. Secretary Bishop replays the footage from the gas station. Colonel Broyles says that there is only one person at Fringe Division that can make that shot.
On the way to Tarrytown, Henry says that the guy means a lot to Olivia, the reason why she came in that universe. Olivia mentions Frank. Henry thought his name was Peter. Olivia agrees and realizes that there is something wrong with her memories.
Agent Charlie visits Frank's apartment. Frank does not understand what is happening to Olivia. Agent Charlie promises that they are going to make her better but they need a lead to find her. Frank tells Agent Charlie that Marilyn came back from France after finding out what had happened to Olivia. In Tarrytown, Olivia declines Henry's offer to stay and tells him to go back to his family, instead. Olivia insists that she is not crazy and that to prove it she has to tell him things which are even crazier. Henry shares the same sentiment, saying that a few years ago, he was in a bad situation but that there was one person, his wife, that believed in him. He reminds Olivia that sometimes you just gotta believe in what you can't see
As Henry drives off, Olivia approaches the safe house. She rings the doorbell but decides to go around the house. She tries the back door but it is locked. She opens the window and sneaks into the house. Olivia hears music being played and a thumping sound. She draws out her gun and finds a dog lying on the floor wagging its tail. She finds some pictures of Bolivia Dunham with her family. A lady calls out "Olive" and Olivia replies "Mom?"
Agent Charlie arrives at Dunham residence. Marilyn tells Agent Charlie that Olivia is in the house. Olivia is sitting in the sofa and greets Charlie.
Secretary Bishop tells Brandon that the treatment works. Brandon realizes that the increased adrenaline from Olivia's escape triggered Bolivia's memories in the B-lymphocytes and successfully passed through the blood-brain barrier.
Olivia waves goodbye to her mother and Agent Charlie drives off. Henry in his taxi sees Olivia with Agent Charlie and he too drives off. Olivia thanks Charlie for being her friend. Agent Charlie thanks her back for not shooting him. Olivia laughs.
Colonel Broyles insists an answer from Secretary Bishop as to why he wants to transfer memories of Bolivia into Olivia and that their Olivia is with the other universe. Secretary Bishop refuses to answer the questions.Peter gives his statement to Senator Van Horn about what had happened and that, Secretary Bishop, his real father, has no intention of saving their world but to destroy this world. The Senator's pen starts dying and Peter tells him that he knows a trick. The senator declines his offer and asks the final question - why Peter came back when he can stay over there to stop his real father's plan.
Outside of US capitol building, a blonde Bolivia waits with Walter. She was curious about Walter's shoes. Walter and Bolivia approaches Peter. Peter tells the two that everything is over and that they can go on with their lives. Walter recommends to start it with a dinner. Walter walks off and Peter tells Bolivia that there is only one thing he can think about. He kisses Bolivia.

- Did the implanted memories from Bolivia supercede the memories Olivia gathered in her synaptic transfer with John Scott?
- Does Olivia have access to, and/or control of, any of her memories?
- Is Olivia in control of her mind and using her recapture as a ploy, because the Opera House and Massive Dynamic cannot help her return to her universe?
