Lucas Vogel is member of the German Bundestag, and the former boyfriend of Olivia Dunham, who he still has feelings for.
About
Lucas, a former romantic interest of Agent Dunham, helped her to gain access to David Jones in a German Prison. Lucas met Dunham at the Frankfurt International Airport, Germany, during her quest to find a cure for the parasitic attack on Agent Mitchell Loeb. They had not seen one another since their relationship ended - and they greeted awkwardly. She noted his business clothing. He countered that his clothing was more comfortable than military clothing, perhaps referencing their common military background.
When Olivia inquired about his contacts at the prison where Jones was being held, he reminded her that he was a Member of the German Parliament (Bundestag), and that he had contacts everywhere. He added, that since she had arrived so quickly after contacting him, he hadn't had time to arrange a meeting, but that they should continue to the prison anyway.
Lucas and Dunham met the Warden at Wissenschaft Prison. Lucas introduced Warden Johan Lennox to Dunham outside of a security checkpoint in the interior of the prison. Lennox commented on Lucas' tenacity. Lucas suggested he could help Lennox with some of his other issues - after Lennox said he was not inclined to grant a visit with Jones. Lucas told Lennox that he had good taste after Lennox commented that he liked Dunham for her persuasiveness. Lucas told Dunham that he didn't mind waiting with her for the interview, after it had already been arranged. Lucas escorted Dunham after she thought that the Jones interview had fallen through.
Lucas commented to Olivia that she never failed gracefully and inquired about her emotional state, noting that something substantial about her had shifted. Lucas invited Dunham to his residence for a meal, wine and to spend the night, noting he was a spectacular chef. Dunham accepted and Lucas entertained her for an evening. He told Dunham that he had looked into something that was not revealed to viewers - and that he wasn't kidding. She did not believe him at all.
Lucas probed further about Dunham's emotional state - wanting to know who broke her heart. Lucas admitted his failures in their previous relationship after she shared her recent failure with Agent John Scott. Lucas added that he doesn't call her because he is ashamed of how he treated her. Lucas kissed Dunham tentatively, then passionately, but was interrupted when her cell phone rang with a break in her investigation. He stated that he hated whoever called (Peter Bishop). Lucas returned to the prison and waited for Dunham to interview Jones.
After Dunham completed her interview of David Jones, Lucas told Dunham that he had additional means of gathering information about Jones after she suggested Jones knew something about Agent Scott's loyalty and added that continuing to help her would give him an excuse to call (stay in contact with) her.

Trivia
- Lucas was identified as Lance Vogel in several on-line database sites before his original appearance in 1.07.
