Akim is an acquaintance of Peter Bishop who has computer skills.
About
In The No-Brainer, Peter uses him to analyze a hard disk containing the malicious program developed by Brian Dempsey and attempt to pinpoint its origin. Akim is not able to determine the origin of the program because of the complexities involved but indicates to Peter that the program is being downloaded at this instant at a local address which Peter recognizes as Olivia's apartment.
When initially approaching Akim, Peter shows him a valuable gold coin. Akim is surprised that Peter had kept the coin when he could have sold it "for a fortune", and asks if he could get it back. Peter replies, "I kept it to remind me never to wager with anything that I couldn't bear to live without. " Peter agrees to give it back if Akim helps him with the hard drive.
Quotes
"It's particles scattered all over the internet. This thing must have been insanely complex. Integrated video, audio. I mean some of this isn't even computer code." (His analysis of the computer program)
Appearances
Akim appeared in the episode The No-Brainer.
Trivia
- The gold coin mentioned above resembles the "1933 Double Eagle" - a U.S. twenty-dollar gold coin. That coin holds the record for highest price paid at auction for a single U.S. coin. It was purchased for $7.59 million (USD). A total of 445,500 "Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle" coins were minted in 1933, their last year of production. The coin was never officially circulated and nearly all were melted down, due to the discontinuance of the gold standard.
