About
|
Akim is an acquaintance of Peter Bishop who has computer skills . In The No-Brainer, Peter uses him to analyze a hard disk containing the malicious program developed by Brian Dempsey and attempt to pinpoint its origin. Akim is not able to determine the origin of the program because of the complexities involved but indicates to Peter that the program is being downloaded at this instant at a local address which Peter recognizes as Olivia's apartment.
When initially approaching Akim, Peter shows him what appears to be a gold coin. Akim is surprised that Peter had kept the coin all that time given that he "could have sold it for a fortune", and asks if he could get it back. Peter says he kept the coin "to remind me never to bet something I can't live without." Peter agrees to give it back if Akim helps him with the hard drive.

Trivia
The coin mentioned above is most likely a 1933 double eagle, a U.S. twenty-dollar coin. The 1933 double eagle currently holds the record for highest price paid at auction for a single U.S. coin when it was purchased for US$7.59 million. 445,500 specimens of this Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle were minted in 1933, the last year of production for the Double Eagle, but no specimens ever officially circulated and nearly all were melted down, due to the discontinuance of the domestic gold standard in 1933.
